Dr. Agnes Ip is a trilingual, Mandarin and Cantonese-speaking, Califonia-licensed marriage and family therapist. She received her Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Azusa Pacific University. She also completed her Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Multicultural Community Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University.

Her clinical work experience covers mental health assessment, evaluation, and treatment for multi-ethnic individuals of all ages in various settings. She is a clinical supervisor and has guided marriage & family therapist trainees and interns from different universities. She worked at Community Mental Health Clinic with severely mentally ill clients for five years treating schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, depression, and anxiety. She then completed her doctoral practicum and internship with diverse underserved populations within various settings: domestic violence intervention, drug and alcohol residential treatment, and forensic preliminary evaluation and therapy for children who experience physical and sexual abuse.

Dr. Agnes is the Founder and CEO of Presence Quotient®Presence Hong Kong, and Presence Quotient Canada.  She is passionate about nurturing the next generation to serve in their families, workplaces, and cultural context. She has developed various training programs to help people deal with the challenges in a multicultural environment:

  1. An assertive communication training curriculum for parents and children and published three training books on the topic. This curriculum helps to enhance children’s social abilities and deepens family relationships.
  2. The Presence Life Planning Curriculum (PLPC). With creative and systematic guidance, PLPC enables connections between individuals, families, and communities, thus helping people live out their faith with wisdom and improving thier mental health.
  3. The Healthy Dialogue-Intergenerational Curriculum provides two-way communication guidance and helps connect youth, families, and youth workers.

She is also a very well-received speaker; often interviewed by the media, she has been referred to as the “Blessings Therapist" by Good TV in Taiwan. She has also produced a booklet for families entitled “Essential Concepts of Wise Parenting;" and is the Editorial Director for the Presence Family Magazine and newsletters, in which she frequently writes articles on mental health, family values, and youth and culture.
